The Bryn Athyn Historic District Research Collection is developed for the purpose of, and as a byproduct of, research performed in support of the various entities that make up the Bryn Athyn Historic Landmark District. This collection is active and related to, but not part of, the original collections in the Glencairn Museum Archives.
The material in this sub-series contains records, correspondence, ephemera and other materials from several iterations of New Jerusalem church organizations in New York, including the Convention church (now Swedenborgian Church of North America), the New York Society of the General Church of the New Jerusalem, the Brooklyn Society and others. Folder titles are all "New York Society" although the church may have existed at times as a "circle" or "group" instead of a full society.
Letters, journals, legal papers and certificates about and between several members and generations of the Powell family. Topics of particular interest include agriculture and the Swedenborgian Faith . Letters between various members of the Powell family relate to agriculture and orchards on their farms in Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
