Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Waelchli’s report of April 5th has been presented to the Consistory. Pendleton comments that Brad Hanlin’s death will have an effect on Middleport, but that matters appear more promising in the other New Church centers Waelchli visits. Pendleton understands Mr. Alden has communicated with Waelchli regarding the Academy’s budget cuts for the coming year. Pendleton writes, “Such a contraction is necessary all along the line, in both the Academy and the General Church, and it may be that the end is not yet. However, and speaking generally, there is no ground for a pessimistic view of the future. It will be with the Church as with business in general.” Pendleton regrets that Waelchli cannot visit the (west?) coast this year, although Henry (Heinrichs) was not altogether disappointed as he will now go to Kitchner for the summer. Names mentioned: Brad Hanlin, Mr. Alden, Henry (Heinrichs)
