Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Pendleton has received Waelchli’s reports of November 14th, December 18th, and January 7th. Pendleton has pleasant memories of Mr. Johnson from Erie; They have considered hiring him as the Church caretaker in Bryn Athyn, but it appears that a younger man would better fit the job. Pendleton is happy to hear the Hamms are back in Rosthern, and he hopes they will not be caught by “wander-lust” again as it is important for their New Church people to stick together. In Bryn Athyn, they are having a normal winter. Pendleton has noticed matters tend to come to a head at this time of year, and in these cases, he feels it is his duty to “sit on the lid.” He will miss not having the February meetings this year, but everyone was so tired after the recent Assembly that the meetings were deemed unnecessary. As they prepare for a new term at the Academy, two or three pupils who “did not fit” have been sent home. Names mentioned: Mr. Johnson, Hamm family, Mr. Schill, Mrs. (Alena Hughes) Waelchli
