Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli, 1918-03-27
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Pendleton has received Waelchli’s report of his trip to Erie and Buffalo. He understands the disappointment in Erie over the fact that Waelchli has chosen to relocate to Cincinnati. Pendleton is hopeful they will find a solution to fill Erie’s need for a pastor. Waelchli’s recommendation regarding Mr. Toby’s recent article in the Quarterly was read to the Consistory, and Pendleton will speak about it further with Mr. Alden. Pendleton reports the death of Carl Theophilus Odhner in Bryn Athyn. He writes, “Dear old C. T. O. has gone from us. I can’t realize it. Everyday I expect to him to open my door with his characteristic inquiry, “Are you busy?” May his spirit of down right loyalty to the obvious doctrines of Church long abide with us. Certainly, the older ones, including you and myself will not soon forget him.” Names mentioned: Mr. Toby, Mr. Alden, C. T. O. (Carl Theophilus Odhner), Alena (Hughes Waelchli)
