Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli, 1917-09-11
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Pendleton has received Waelchli’s reports of August 23 and 31st. The latter report was read aloud at a joint meeting of the Extension Committee and the Consistory. The applications of the Klippenstein family and Erdman Heinrichs have been accepted. Pendleton is glad that Waelchli is pleased with the results of his fifth year of missionary efforts in the Canadian Northwest. The only thing that disappoints Pendleton is the lack of students for the Academy from that area, aside from Henry Heinrichs. He writes, “We are doing everything that we can in the way of aiding pupils to come to Bryn Athyn, and it is my earnest hope that the Church everywhere will co-operate with us, not only by contributions of money to the Scholarship fund but by stimulating the desire of the boys and girls to come here to school.” He continues, “Two things we need, Fred, at this time, this first is the furthering of our educational work by means of the schools here and those in other societies, and the second is an earnest and aggressive missionary spirit.” Pendleton thanks Waelchli for his reports. Names mentioned: Klippenstein family, Erdman Heinrichs, Henry Heinrichs, John Wiebe
