Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli, 1916-11-14
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Pendleton has received Waelchli’s letters of September 25th and November 10th. After discussion, Pendleton and others have concluded that it would be unwise to publish at this time anything which would stir up discussion of the question involved in the Kramph Will Case. Recognizing that the situation must be addressed in Saskatchewan, Pendleton recommends that Waelchli advise Mr. Hamm that he can secure copies of the Kramph Will Case himself in order to inform himself and others of the details of the case. Pendleton explains his reasoning that “. . . it is not well to meet rumors in private circulation by publishing a document for the purpose, as this would lead to a public controversy.” Pendleton is pleased with Waelchli’s report of his missionary efforts in several places including Middleport. As well as benefiting current members, Pendleton is convinced that these trips will eventually result in new members. He writes, “It is with missionary work as with advertising, the first attempt is successful if it yields one percent. The invariable law is that the fourth, fifth, and sixth trial greatly increases the return.” Names mentioned: Kramph, Mr. Acton, Mr. (John) Hamm
