Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli, 1914-09-10
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Berlin, Canada. Pendleton has received Waelchli’s letters August 25th and September 4th, sent respectively from Rosthern and Kenora. Pendleton is glad his letters are encouraging to Waelchli and wishes he had time to write more. He reports that they have finally heard from Alfred Stroh in Sweden; They had not heard from him for two or three months after he went to Spain. Mr. Wilde of the “Morning Light” was contacted by Stroh from Bale, Switzerland. Stroh had passed through Germany on his way to Sweden just as war was breaking out. Pendleton has received the 7 new membership applications and written to Mr. Hamm in accordance with Waelchli’s suggestion. He agrees with Waelchli’s idea of developing Rosthern as a New Church center and working from it. Pendleton was interested in Waelchli’s comments about Peter Klippenstein as a potential candidate for the ministry, and he promises to write to Middleport about the prospect of Waelchli visiting. Pendleton reports that Mrs. Pendleton has returned home from her extended hospital stay. Names mentioned: Alfred Stroh, Mr. (John?) Pitcairn, Mr. Wilde, Mr. (John) Hamm, Peter Klippenstein, Mrs. (Beatrice Walton Childs) Pendleton, Mrs. (Alena Hughes) Waelchli, Olivia (Waelchli Childs)
