Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Tilson’s letter of January 22nd with enclosed annual report arrived in time for the mid-year meetings. Regarding Wynne Acton’s ordination, Pendleton explains that the usual custom is to have ministers spend three years of service in the first degree. However, the length of time may be modified to accommodate specific circumstances. In this case, Pendleton suggests Tilson ordain Acton into the second degree sometime in the near future. In Bryn Athyn, the mid-year meetings have concluded. As with the previous year, the focus was on the Hague controversy. The Joint Council has agreed to publish in the Life the parts of the Ministers’ Council discussions that focus on the Hague doctrine. This includes a paper by Pendleton and one by Mr. Bjorck. Pendleton sympathizes with the financial struggles of Tilson’s society, but all they can do at the present is to hope for gradual improvement. Names mentioned: Wynne Acton, Bishop (William Henry) Benade, Mr. (Albert) Bjorck
