Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Pendleton appreciates Tilson allowing him to keep the letter he (Tilson) sent to Mr. Caldwell (letter attached). Pendleton does not intend to “use it” except under extreme pressure from the “other side,” i.e. Convention. The Executive Committee has approved of Pendleton’s plan to send Wynne (Acton) to England to act as Tilson’s assistant. Tilson may now bring the matter before his society for comment. The Church will take care of Acton’s travelling expenses and will provide him with a minimum income. Pendleton will ordain Acton into the first degree of the priesthood in June, and he will be ready to sail for England as early as July 1st. Pendleton writes, “I feel like congratulating you, for I know of no young man whom I would rather have as my assistant.” Names mentioned: Mr. (Will) Caldwell, Wynne (Acton), Mr. Mollusk, Mrs. (Edith Gunton) Tilson, Mr. Goldsack, Mr. Duftly (Dufty?), Mr. Clapham, Mr. Bostock, Mr. (Victor) Gladish, Miss (Kate Madeline) Dowling
