Identifier: RG.004.01

Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Pendleton has been unable to answer correspondence as he was taken ill with the grippe while visiting Atlantic City with his wife and daughter. In response to Tilson’s last letter, Pendleton writes, “I entirely agree with you that the Writings are the internal sense of the Word; that, indeed, is what they claim for themselves, and so it is just what they are. The old Academy stand, with reference to them, is right.” Pendleton informs Tilson that Bishop DeCharms will preside at the London Assembly in Pendleton’s place. Pendleton thinks Tilson will find DeCharms a “delightful companion,” and he will ask DeCharms to write to Tilson about the arrangements. Pendleton also encloses a copy of a letter he recently wrote to Mr. Pfeiffer in response to one from him. Names mentioned: Mrs. (Beatrice Walton Childs) Pendleton, Nancy (Pendleton), Bishop (George) DeCharms, Mr. (Ernst) Pfeiffer, Mr. (Harrie D. G.) Groeneveld, Gezelschap
