Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson, 1929-02-02
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Pendleton has received Tilson’s letter of Jan. 10th with enclosures. Pendleton thinks the “Percy Dawson group” at Failsworth is worthy of Tilson’s attention. Pendleton has recently seen several photographs of the successive church buildings at Failsworth, and it appears that the size of the congregation has been growing over the past 50 years. Pendleton notes Tilson’s desire to visit Failsworth, York, Bath, Bristol, etc., and he promises this will be communicated to the Executive Committee at its next meeting. He notifies Tilson that the Academy Board granted Tilson’s request of money for himself and Miss Dowling to continue the work of New Church education in England over the coming year. The midyear meetings will soon open in Bryn Athyn, and Pendleton wishes it were possible for Tilson to be present. He hopes Tilson will make the journey for the 1930 General Assembly which will take place in Bryn Athyn. Plans are currently underway for an Assembly Hall to accommodate the needs of this event. Names mentioned: Percy Dawson, Miss (Kate Madeline) Dowling
