Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Pendleton is sympathetic to the difficulties Tilson is facing in London; Pendleton faced similar difficulties early in his work in Chicago and Glenview. He recommends outsourcing labor to Church councils. While the invitation to host the General Assembly in London was officially issued by the Burton Road society, Pendleton thinks it would be in order for Mr. Gyllenhaal and the Colchester society to assist in this undertaking. Pendleton has met Mr. Gardner on several occasions, and he and Mrs. Pendleton were once cordially hosted by Mr. Wynter at Bishopswood. Pendleton will be interested to see if Wynter takes up Gardner’s suggestion. In Bryn Athyn, Pendleton is preparing to go north for the Canadian Assembly, which was postponed in the Spring due to a smallpox outbreak. Following Canada, he will travel to Glenview to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Immanuel Church, and then to Pittsburgh for their district assembly. Pendleton also notes that the Academy has record attendance this year with a total of 275 students. Names mentioned: Mr. (Fred) Gyllenhaal, Mr. Gardner (Frederick Ambrose Gardiner?), Mrs. (Beatrice Walton Childs) Pendleton, Bishopswood, Mr. (David) Wynter
