Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson, 1927-08-25
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Pendleton has received Tilson’s letter of August 12th. He was glad to read that the British Assembly was a success and that his address was well received. The address will be printed in the Life as part of the Assembly report. Pendleton asks if Mr. Sexton has considered coming to Bryn Athyn for a visit. He believes a “more definite and orderly ‘contact with spirits’ might have its appeal” with some of the young men in Bryn Athyn. In his absence, Sexton’s pulpit could be filled by either Tilson or Mr. Gyllenhaal. Pendleton asks Tilson to inform Sexton that the General Church does not believe in re-baptism, “but in the New baptism in the name of the Lond in His Second Coming.” Pendleton reports that Tilson’s “special antiphon” is currently in the hands of Mr. DeCharms, whom he has asked to consider its use. Having recently returned from an auto trip through New England and Quebec, Pendleton is preparing for a short stay at the seaside. Names mentioned: Rev. G. A. Sexton (George Alexander Sexton?), Mr. (Fred) Gyllenhaal, Mr. DeCharms (George?)
