Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson, 1926-12-14
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. For more than a year, Pendleton has been in confidential correspondence with former Conference minister G. A. Sexton on the Isle of Jersey. Due to his developing doctrinal view that the Writings are a “Divine Message,” Sexton and his congregation have been financially cut off by Conference and are now appealing to the General Church for help. Pendleton has just written to Sexton that the General Church is not able to offer financial aid at this time, but he advised Sexton to come into contact with Tilson and Mr. Gyllenhaal. From reading Sexton’s letters, Pendleton believes that Sexton and the Jersey Society are moving into alignment with the General Church. Pendleton requests that Tilson do anything he can to help Pendleton gain an accurate picture of the situation. Names mentioned: Rev. G. A. Sexton (George Alexander Sexton?), Mr. (Fred) Gyllenhaal
