Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson, 1924-11-17
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Pendleton presented Tilson’s appeal for funding to the Academy Board of Directors, and they have awarded Tilson a gift of $450 from the Glanville Bequest. Pendleton leaves it to Tilson and his pastoral council to decide how best to use the gift. Pendleton thanks Tilson for sending news of the Church in England following the Assembly and Dedication. Pendleton hopes the new church building in Colchester will reenergize the society and perhaps lead to external growth. He was encouraged by the signs of growth he saw in London following the Assembly last summer. In Bryn Athyn, the schools are experiencing their fall “boom.” Pendleton explains, “When the winter comes and the students are more strictly confined ‘states of mind’ begin to develop, which call for more definite discipline. It is always so.” Looking ahead to the February ministers’ meetings, they are planning to bring Mr. Heinrichs in from Denver so that he may be ordained into the second degree of the priesthood. Names mentioned: Glanville, Mr. (Henry) Heinrichs, Mrs. (Edith Gunton) Tilson
