Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson, 1923-01-08
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Pendleton has received Tilson’s letter of December 9th. Pendleton asks Tilson to “write to me whenever you are moved to do so, without reference to anything save your own desire. Such a mode will I am convinced, best serve the uses of the Church, and as well the affections of friendship.” Pendleton thanks Tilson for his report of the recent British Assembly. He congratulates Tilson, Mr. Gyllenhaal, and Mr. Bjorck for their handling of the situation. He writes, “The end in view is worth all that we can give in the way of endeavor and sacrifice.” Pendleton reports that, in Bryn Athyn, “we are holding our own, not however, without the irritations to which the flesh is heir. On becoming New Church we do not cease to be very fallible human beings, do we? Somehow I rather like people who are not too fearfully perfect.” Pendleton was very glad to learn that Mrs. Tilson’s condition is improving and that she has begun walking again. Names mentioned: Mr. (Fred) Gyllenhaal, Mr. (Albert) Bjorck, Mrs. Tilson
