Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson, 1919-10-10
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Robert J. Tilson in London, England. Pendleton received both Tilson’s and Ottley’s General Church priesthood applications in time for the Assembly and adjoined meetings. The Consistory and the Council of the Clergy join with Pendleton in welcoming Tilson and Ottley to the “brotherhood.” Pendleton writes, “The feeling was that your action with that of Mr. Ottley, in applying for admission into the Priesthood of the General Church, gave renewed confidence in the final triumph of sound principles in the Church throughout the world.” Assembly activities have now concluded in Bryn Athyn, and Pendleton has requested that any written material connected with the Assembly be sent to Tilson. Pendleton writes that the dedication of the Cathedral during the Assembly was “indescribable.” He continues, “There has not been, nor will there ever be again, such an experience in my life. Most of the one thousand persons present say the same.” Pendleton hopes Tilson and Ottley will visit Bryn Athyn soon. Names mentioned: (Glendower C.) Ottley
