Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Homer Synnestvedt, 1926-03-08
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Homer Synnestvedt in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Pendleton has received Synnestvedt’s letter of March 2nd regarding New Church education in the Pittsburgh Society. Pendleton agrees it will be difficult to find someone to fill Celia (Bellinger)’s place when she leaves the Pittsburgh school next year. Both Toronto and Pittsburgh will be looking to fill teaching positions next year. Gilbert Smith, Glenview’s pastor, is unlikely to “give up” Miss Blackman anytime soon. Additionally, Rhoda Ebert has gotten engaged and will be leaving the teaching field to pursue music. Commenting on the loss of teachers to marriage, Pendleton writes, “Our New Church teaching force, especially the ladies’ side of it, is a variable quantity. Mr. Doering has just been indulging in a talk on that subject.” Names mentioned: Celia (Bellinger), Rhoda Ebert, Mr. (Charles) Doering, Gilbert (Smith), Miss (Gladys) Blackman
