Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Homer Synnestvedt, 1924-04-10
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Homer Synnestvedt in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. As stated in Pendleton’s earlier telegram, the Toronto society has unanimously called for Synnestvedt to be their new pastor. Mr. Alden’s resignation was accepted, and he will step down as Pastor in September. Pendleton hopes Synnestvedt will take the position. He writes, “I as Bishop feel concerned about the future of the Olivet Church. The state there, while very promising especially in the way of numerical growth, calls for a strong hand. The new elements gathered by Mr. Alden should have our Academy ideas impressed upon them, and this especially by one who can speak with authority. I know that you could do this, and in the doing of it there would be great service to the Church, and for me rest of mind so far as Toronto is concerned.” Pendleton would like an answer from Synnestvedt at his earliest convenience. Names mentioned: Mr. (Karl) Alden
