Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Homer Synnestvedt in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Pendleton has received Synnestvedt’s letter of March 25th. Pendleton discusses plans for the upcoming district assembly in Pittsburgh, April 26th-29th. The subject of his address will be Representative Government and Human Freedom in the light of Revelation. He is looking forward to the customary “Stag luncheon” and Monday night banquet. Pendleton regrets that’s the Pittsburgh school will lose Miss Celia (Bellinger) as a teacher next year, but he thinks Amy (Doering) will be a good replacement. He also recommends Elise Junge as a teacher if they can get her. In response to Synnestvedt’s comments about joining the war effort, Pendleton writes, “Bobby wants to get everybody in the Army. You must consider that you are not as young as you once were and should content yourself in doing as the rest of us older fellows do, i.e. in following the Army and assisting in the spirit.” Pendleton remarks that he was pleasantly surprised by the School’s presentation of “The Chimes of Normandy” when he sat in for a dress rehearsal yesterday. Names mentioned: Karl (Alden), Donald Rose, Celia (Bellinger), Amy (Doering), Elise Junge, Bobby (Robert Caldwell?), Mrs. (Besse Edmonds) Smith, Mr. (Eldred) Iungerich, Mr. (Frederick?) Finkeldey
