Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Homer Synnestvedt in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Pendleton answers Synnestvedt’s questions regarding the Academy’s music program. He writes that neither the Boys’ Academy nor the Girls’ Seminary offer music as an elective, though they both require a course in chorale music. Mrs. Smith has proposed a plan for elective music, but the idea is generally unpopular with the Faculty. However, further discussion is required on the larger subject of electives. Pendleton notes that Spring has arrived in Bryn Athyn; This means good weather for the builders, including Charlie Pendleton and Ed Bostock. Pendleton writes that they have all “apparently gone to sleep over the bodies of spirits and angels question,” though he suspects “we shall all be sharply awakened soon.” Pendleton hopes that the process of moving will not be too hard on Synnestvedt and his wife. Names mentioned: Mrs. Smith, Charlie Pendleton, Ed Bostock, Mr. (John?) Pitcairn, Mrs. (Theodora Bellinger) Synnestvedt
