Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith, 1928-03-28
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith in Glenview, IL, USA. Pendleton was sorry to hear of Susan Scalbom’s illness and hopes she will recover soon. In the meantime, Smith must find another teacher for the Glenview school. Pendleton suggests writing to Jennie Gaskill as she will likely not be re-employed by the Pittsburgh school. He confirms that half-time work in the Glenview school would be the best arrangement for Norman (Reuter) next year. He regrets that there are no open teaching positions for Volita (Wells) in Bryn Athyn as the elementary school is already well provided for. Pendleton concludes the letter, writing, “By all means, my dear Gilbert, take a vacation. The Easter vacation is near, and the sun is warming up. Get in your high grade Cadillac and come and visit with your friends.” Names mentioned: Susan Scalbom, Jennie Gaskill, Anita (Doering), Mrs. Iungerich, Volita (Wells), Venita Roschman, Norman (Reuter)
