Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith, 1927-04-14
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith in Glenview, IL, USA. Pendleton has delayed answering Smith’s last letter until the summer assignments for the theological students were finalized. If Smith approves, they will send Hendrick Boef to Glenview. Although there was initially talk of sending Victor Gladish, Pendleton is now convinced it will be better to assign him to Kitchener with the understanding that the society will provide board and lodging. Pendleton hopes Smith still intends to attend the 1928 General Assembly in London despite the cost of travel. He writes, “The $300 [from the General Church] is not enough, but some one should suggest the propriety of the Glenview Society ‘chipping in.’” Names mentioned: Hendrick Boef, Victor (Gladish)
