Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith in Glenview, IL, USA. “In answer to your letter, and after having consulted with the Faculty of the Boys Academy, I may say that the rule concerning a working scholarship boy who has been conditioned, has proven of such benefit in toning up the school that the Faculty would not consider changing it. However, it is understood that Gerardin will be given a further opportunity, but as to a specific statement of the way in which the opportunity will be given Mr. Alden will write you. Hoping that Gerardin will succeed in meeting the requirements, and in the pleasant prospect of seeing you soon, I am as ever yours, N. D. P.” Names mentioned: Gerardin (Smith), Mr. Alden
