Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith, 1924-05-17
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith in Glenview, IL, USA. Smith has been called by the Toronto Society to be their new pastor, but he has yet to decide whether or not he will accept. Pendleton writes to Smith, “The only advice that I have to offer is that when you have sounded the state of your Society and given the matter careful thought from your own standpoint, that you then act with promptness and decisively, not permitting too many details to stand in the way. I do not give this advice because I think you need it, but as you have asked, and this occurs to me as the best way of crossing a bridge, I make bold to give it.” Pendleton leaves Wednesday for a weeklong trip in Canada; Should Smith wish to write to him while he is away, letters can be addressed to the care of Karl Alden, Toronto.
