Identifier: RG.004.01

Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith in Glenview, IL, USA. Pendleton has been attempting to bring Smith’s suggestion regarding the 1923 General Assembly before the Consistory for weeks, but has not yet been able to as they have been busy with other matters. Pendleton is personally unsure about Smith’s suggestion. He writes, “For myself, I see certain difficulties. If all articles, for instance, are published and distributed beforehand, a certain freshness of impression will be eliminated, unless indeed we can count on the discussion supplying this element. Can we do so? I very much doubt it.” Pendleton suggests a discussion of the matter during the ministers’ council in February.
