Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton's secretary, Freda Pendleton, to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith in Glenview, IL, USA. F. Pendleton informs Smith that the Bishop has found it imperative to retire to the shore for two weeks in order to prevent a nervous breakdown. She writes, “The trouble is nothing very sudden but has been coming on gradually from over work and not enough vacation in the summer.” He was able to preach the Thanksgiving Day service in Bryn Athyn but was strained by the effort. He asked F. Pendleton to acknowledge Smith’s letter of Nov. 21st but did not leave any comments. F. Pendleton thinks the Bishop will recover in a few weeks, and in the meantime, she recommends Smith write to Miss Alice about matters pertaining to the schools.
