Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith, 1917-09-10
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gilbert Haven Smith in Chicago, IL, USA. Pendleton has received Smith’s letter of September 8th. He approves of the program Smith has put together for his visit to Glenview/Chicago, with the exception that he would like Mr. Headsten’s congregation to join the Chicago church for worship on the second Sunday. This would not be necessary if he could stay an extra Sunday to preach for them separately, however he does not want to be away from Bryn Athyn for a full three weeks. Pendleton will also meet with Smith’s congregation on Wednesday for a dedication of their worship space. Pendleton does not feel it would be appropriate to dedicate the entire house as it is being rented, but he will dedicate the chancel and the worship accessories. Names mentioned: Mr. (John) Headsten, Mrs. (Beatrice Walton Childs) Pendleton
