Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn at Chateau les Pleignes, Grez sur Loing, Seine-et-Marne, France. Pendleton writes, “In memory of our last conversation and mutual understanding, I write to say I am looking forward to your return to your work here as pastor, at your earliest convenience.” He also informs Pitcairn that he intends to ordain Dr. Acton into the third degree of the priesthood shortly. He comments, “As you may know, I have never ordained any one into that degree because of learning or intellectual acquirements as a sole consideration, but always with a view to some practical need and service.” Names mentioned: Dr. (Alfred) Acton
