Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn, 1932-07-29
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn at Chateau les Pleignes, Grez sur Loing, Seine-et-Marne, France. Pendleton has received Pitcairn’s letter of July 10th. Regarding the matter of Mr. Frazee, Pendleton anticipates that it would be very difficult to convince the Board to approve taking on a new theological student at this time. Additionally, Frazee’s past demonstrates frequent changes in occupation which is not an encouraging sign for a potential theolog. Commenting on the recent death of Mrs. Deltenre, Pendleton writes that he received a letter from her shortly before her death, asking that her pension from the Church be continued for three months after her death to cover her funeral expenses; Her request was granted. Pendleton has purchased land and established a camp at Indian Lake in New York. He writes about the purchase, “From a financial standpoint, the undertaking appears to be rather seriously imprudent, but when we went into the contract the depression did not promise to be as devastating as it subsequently became.” Names mentioned: Mr. Frazee, Mrs. (Maria) Deltenre, Marie Emmanuel, Mr. (Ernst) Pfeiffer, Mrs. Pfeiffer, Mrs. (Viola Wolcott) Rennels
