Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn, 1931-12-04
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn in Chateau les Pleignes, Grez sur Loing, Seine-et-Marne, France. Pendleton writes that the Academy is not in a position to sponsor further developmental work at this time. In fact, they would be happy if they could find a way to provide work for their current theological students. Pendleton states that the situation with Watanabe “presents a sad mixture of several scandals,” and therefore it would be unwise to offer financial support even if it was available. Despite the ongoing controversy within the Church, Pendleton remains positive. He writes, “I join with you in the hope that the clouds may pass away, and I can not but believe that they will, if we have sufficient patience.” Names mentioned: (Isamu L.) Watanabe, Marijke (Urban Pitcairn)
