Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn, 1931-02-20
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn at Chateau les Pleignes, Grez ur Loing, Seine-et-Marne, France. Pendleton has received Pitcairn’s letters of Jan. 8th and Feb. 3rd. He writes, “From that of January eighth I learned that on the advice of Mr. Pfeiffer you decided to cancel your arrangements to attend the Council. I deeply regret your decision, and also that Mr. Pfeiffer should have given you such advice.” Pendleton reports that he has spoken with Mr. Caldwell, and Pitcairn’s communication will be published in the upcoming issue of the Life, as requested. Pendleton points out that the Life has held off for months on publishing criticisms of Mr. Pfeiffer’s views owing to Pfeiffer’s request that judgment be delayed until English translations of sections of De Hemelsche Leer could be made. Due to limited space in the Life and the inclusion of Pitcairn’s defense, several of these criticisms will now no longer be published. Names mentioned: Mr. (Ernst) Pfeiffer, Mr. (Will) Caldwell, Mr. Odhner, Dr. (Alfred) Acton
