Identifier: RG.004.01

Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn at Chateau de la Motte, Thoury-Ferrottes, Seine-et-Marne, France. Pendleton congratulates Pitcairn and his wife on the birth of their daughter. In Bryn Athyn, the mid-year meetings have just concluded, and Pendleton plans to visit Atlantic City with his wife for a few days to recuperate. Pendleton informs Pitcairn of an upcoming change to the government of the Church; He writes, “It has been decided at the forthcoming Assembly to ratify our desire for an Assistant Bishop of the General Church. It appeared to me that such a step at this time would be of use to our organization.” Pendleton hopes Pitcairn will be in attendance at this Assembly. Pendleton writes that he was much touched by Berry Maqelepo’s letter, but that Watanabe’s letter needs “a somewhat more definite statement both as to his position and also his desires.” Names mentioned: Mrs. (Beatrice Walton Childs) Pendleton, Berry Maqelepo, (Isamu L.) Watanabe
