Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn, 1925-02-14
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn. Pendleton has received Pitcairn’s last two cablegrams. Elmo Acton will be ordained sometime around the 19th of June this year and will set sail for South Africa afterwards; Pitcairn should expect him in Durban in the latter half of July. Pendleton comments, “I hope that the Durban friends will find him all that they expect, as for myself, my only doubt arises from the consideration of his youth and inexperience.” Pendleton has written to George DeCharms in St. Petersburgh, Florida with reference to Pitcairn’s suggestion that DeCharms join him in South Africa for a year, and he hopes to hear back from him in a few days. In Bryn Athyn, the mid-year meetings have concluded, and everyone is resuming their usual workload. Pendleton has accepted an invitation to visit Rio de Janeiro next summer with Mr. Iungerich. He ends the letter by noting that Karen Pitcairn was operated on a few days ago for appendicitis, and her father Raymond says she is now doing very well. Names mentioned: Elmo (Acton), George DeCharms, Mr. (Eldred) Iungerich, Karen (Pitcairn), Raymond (Pitcairn)
