Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn, 1921-11-08
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn in Maseru, Basutoland. Pendleton has just arrived back in Bryn Athyn. He remarks that the school is larger than ever this year, and he hopes it will continue growing. He is sorry to hear there has been a falling out with Rev. Mofokeng, and he asks Pitcairn if Mofokeng’s name should be dropped from the roll of General Church ministers. Pendleton gives approval to Pitcairn’s proposal for distributing the Basuto Church’s offertory funds. Pendleton is glad that Pitcairn is pleased with the work of George Mokoena. He writes, “He [Mokoena] is certainly a much better educated man than Mofokeng and will also, I believe, prove far more reliable in character.” Pendleton is happy thinking about Pitcairn staying with the Elphick’s, and he hopes they will be able to see each other again soon. Names mentioned: (Rev. Samuel Mabina) Mofokeng, Reginald (Brown), George Mokoena, Mr. Elphick
