Identifier: RG.004.01

Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Theodore Pitcairn in Maseru, Basutoland. Pendleton enjoyed receiving Pitcairn’s letters from Europe, and he is grateful for the financial assistance Pitcairn is offering to provide the Church. Pendleton wrote to Mr. Regamey regarding Pitcairn’s offer to finance Regamey’s two sons coming to Bryn Athyn, and he will inform Pitcairn of the result when Regamey’s response arrives. Pendleton is formulating a plan to host an International Council in Bryn Athyn in June. Theodore Pitcairn has also offered to finance Mr. Tilson and Mr. Ottley coming to America for the occasion. Additionally, Raymond Pitcairn has proposed financing Mr. Deltenre and Mr. Baeckstrom, and Pendleton thinks the Church itself can raise the money to finance Mr. Hussenet. Pendleton discusses the issue of whether Fred (Gyllenhaal) will be transferred to England, and if so, who will take his place in Durban. Pendleton also encloses a letter, written to Rev. Morse 20 years ago by a New Churchman in South Africa named “Gibson,” that he thinks both Pitcairn and Fred (Gyllenhaal) will find interesting. The letter ends with Pendleton’s request that Pitcairn send updates about his work in Basutoland and South Africa. Names mentioned: Mr. (Gustave E.) Regamey, Mr. (Robert J.) Tilson, Mr. (Glendower C.) Ottley, Raymond (Pitcairn), Mr. (Ernst) Deltenre, Mr. (Gustaf) Baeckstrom, Mr. (Ferdinand) Hussenet, Fred (Gyllenhaal?), Mr. (Richard) Morse, (Henry A.) Gibson, (Rev. Samuel Mabina) Mofokeng, Reginald (Brown), Mrs. (Augusta Pendleton Cooper) Brown
