Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Ernst Pfeiffer, 1932-10-22
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Ernst Pfeiffer in The Hague, Holland. Pendleton forwards Pfeiffer a copy of a letter he wrote to Miss Helderman in response to a recent communication from her. In the letter, Pendleton reassures Helderman that the General Church supports her action to withdraw from Pfeiffer on the grounds that he is no longer preaching General Church doctrine; The majority of members in the U.S. are also in disagreement with Pfeiffer’s views. Yet in the interest of freedom of thought, he believes: “. . . this controversy must be allowed to run its due course. We can not but believe that in good time it will be with this as with the past controversies in the Church, which are now at rest.” Names mentioned: Miss Emma Helderman
