Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Carl Theophilus Odhner (?)
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton, most likely to Rev. Carl Theophilus Odhner. Addressed to “My Dear Boy.” No Date. Pendleton thanks the Odhners for their last letter with an “excellent picture.” Of the picture, Pendleton writes, “Tell ‘Lulu’ that her’s though good, does not quite do her justice. And as for yours, there is a mingling of genial humor and fierce determination which is entirely characteristic and altogether delightful. A sort of love for friends and terror for enemies look.” Pendleton reports that things are going well and that the society’s response to spiritual instruction has been very encouraging. Pendleton also informs Odhner that the story about Swedenborg seeing a book appear in a window, as published in the last issue of the Life, can be found in his scientific works, not his theological ones. doc Names mentioned: Mrs. (Marie Louise?) Odhner, Emanuel Swedenborg
