Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1913-12-22
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton read the enclosed announcement regarding his impending transfer to Bryn Athyn aloud to the Pittsburgh congregation after the Sunday service. They held a Church Committee meeting to begin discussing Pendleton’s replacement. The majority of the committee favors calling Gilbert (Smith), and the minority favors Homer (Synnestvedt). The general thought of the Committee is that the Society will prefer Synnestvedt, though Pendleton is unsure of this. Pendleton requests that W.F.P. inform him of any developments regarding housing in Bryn Athyn; Louis (?) has agreed to look into the houses which Venita pointed out as potential options for Pendleton and his family. Names mentioned: Gilbert (Smith), Homer (Synnestvedt), Louis (Schoenberger?), Venita (Pendleton Carpenter), Beatrice (Walton Childs Pendleton)
