Scope and Contents

Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton hopes W.F.P. will be able to visit Pittsburgh soon. However, if he cannot, Pendleton will arrange to come to Bryn Athyn for a few days. Pendleton was glad to learn of the way Mr. Pitcairn feels, though it came as a bit of a surprise. Pendleton himself feels that “if such a change is to be made it ought not to be long delayed- especially in view of conserving your forces- for that part of your work which will mean most to the Church.” A few days ago, Pendleton received a letter from Mr. Gardiner, requesting more information on the Academy view of the Writings as the Word. Pendleton met Gardiner on his summer European trip, and he found Gardiner to be a charming and friendly man. Pendleton reports that Evelyn Gilmore, Pittsburgh society schoolteacher, has just become engaged and will be leaving the school. As a result, the society will need a new teacher for the upcoming year. Names mentioned: Mr. Pitcairn, Mr. (Frederick Ambrose?) Gardiner, Evelyn Gilmore
