Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1912-03-01
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton will read aloud W.F.P.’s most recent letter at the next Committee meeting as presenting W.F.P.’s position may “bring about a change of sentiment.” At their last meeting, the Committee was unanimously against Pendleton leaving the pulpit for a southern trip. However, they did not take an official “vote of refusal.” Despite an especially “affectionate response to spiritual instruction” over the past year, Pendleton reports that the Pittsburgh society has been struggling with an unusual number of difficulties. For instance, Mrs. Lindsay has just removed her three children from the Church school after a series of disagreements with the teacher, Miss Evelyn. Pendleton will inform W.F.P. about the results of the next Committee meeting, but he believes it would not be wise to make any trips at this time. Names mentioned: Mrs. Lindsay, Miss Evelyn (Gilmore), Dr. (Edward) Cranch, Mr. (Walter?) Brickman
