Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1912-01-20
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton is planning a trip south, and he hopes W.F.P. will take his place in Pittsburgh until he returns. In case W.F.P. cannot stay the entire time, Pendleton suggests Mr. Acton or Homer (Synnestvedt). Pendleton reports that there is opposition in the Pittsburgh society to the cost of the addition they are planning to the present Church building. However, more adequate accommodations are needed, and the majority is in favor of doing something. Pendleton has been reading Miss Beekman’s paper aloud on Sunday nights in the homes of interested society members. Referring to one of these occasions, he writes, “there was developed one of the warmest spiritual spheres we here have experienced.” Pendleton will visit Erie at the end of the month if he receives a favorable response from Dr. Cranch. Names mentioned: Charlie (Charles Pendleton), Andy, Mr. (Alfred?) Acton, Homer (Synnestvedt), Miss (Lilian Grace) Beekman, Mr. Jacob Schoenberger, Dr. (Edward) Cranch, Beatrice (Walton Childs Pendleton)
