Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1911-09-12
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton is returning the enclosed papers to W.F.P.. Of Miss Beekman’s work, Pendleton writes, “Miss Beekman brings to the consideration of the subject - not to mention many things characteristic of her unusual enlightenment - an entirely new view of the ‘Holy Spirit which came upon Mary.’ I had always taken for granted that the Holy Spirit thus spoken of was the Jehovah seed - the ultimate Truth from thereof, by which impregnation was effected; while the Power of the Highest was the Divine Good contained.” He continues, “Miss Beekman’s view of this ‘Spirit’ as the sphere particles given off by the spiritual physiologicals of the Angels, caught in the animal spirit stream of the Mother blood, and therefore as it were supplied by Mary, comes as a radical departure from what – I think – has been the general understanding of the place and function of that ‘Spirit,’ as well as of it[‘s] quality.” Names mentioned: Miss (Lilian Grace) Beekman
