Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1911-08-22
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton went to visit the natatorium where Alan works. He has also spoken with Alan about his work several times, and he believes there is no cause for concern on W.F.P.’s part. Pendleton thinks perhaps there may be some danger of Alan catching a cold from exposure as the tank is not covered from above, but he understands that “the water is renewed and the place cleaned more frequently and thoroughly than is the case with the ordinary natatoriums.” This is intended to reduce the danger of the more serious “disease germs.” Pendleton continues, “While in his work he comes in contact with the lower and non-attractive classes, yet the place itself has a pleasing appearance, and is evidently under good management.” On a different subject, Pendleton informs W.F.P. that Beatrice, Marion, and Jean are a two week stay at Harvey Childs’ country home. Names mentioned: Alan (Pendleton?), Beatrice (Walton Childs Pendleton), Marion (Pendleton), Jean Pendleton), Harvey Childs
