Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1910-04-19
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton recounts his recent trip to the Erie circle. He preached on Sunday to a congregation of 37 and administered Holy Supper to 25. He attended a doctrinal class at the house of Mr. Glenn and gave Holy Supper to Mrs. McDonald in her home. He was impressed by all the work done for the Church in Erie by Dr. and Mrs. Cranch, and he comments, “It would require a very efficient minister to make much of an improvement.” Pendleton returned home to Pittsburgh to find the people there very upset by his absence and by the minister who filled in for him; He writes, “Personally I like Walter, but as a Minister he puts our people here on edge, to express it mildly.” Pendleton now worries about leaving again to attend the June Council meetings in Bryn Athyn, as he will be absent from his congregation for two Sundays. Names mentioned: Mrs. (Daniel) McDonald, Mr. (Oscar?) Glenn, Dr. (Edward) Cranch, Mrs. Cranch, Walter (Brickman?)
