Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1910-04-07
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton is forwarding W.F.P. a letter from Mr. Kendig about the conduct of Mr. Whitehead during his time in Renovo. It seems that relations between Kendig and Whitehead became strained, and eventually Kendig wrote a letter of complaint to Mr. Synnestvedt. Before the letter could be sent, Whitehead found it and read it before turning it back over to Kendig. Whitehead’s reasoning was that he could not afford to have his future jeopardized as he was in training for the ministry. When Pendleton visited Renovo, he was made aware of other complaints against Whitehead, yet he writes that Whitehead “impressed me as acting well under a trying situation.” Pendleton hopes Whitehead will give a satisfactory explanation of his actions if W.F.P. decides to take the matter up with him. Names mentioned: Mr. (Joseph R.) Kendig, Mr. (William) Whitehead, Mr. (Homer?) Synnestvedt, Reginald (Brown?), Beatrice (Walton Childs Pendleton)
