Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1910-02-07
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. The Erie Society has proposed a plan for inviting Pendleton to hold Sunday worship in Erie four times per year. The matter was discussed by the Pittsburgh Church Committee, and it was not considered very favorably. The Committee would like to know if the Pittsburgh Society will be expected to cover the cost of securing a substitute in Pendleton’s absence, or if the General Church would take on this responsibility. Pendleton asks if W.F.P. has considered Mr. Brickman in this regard as Brickman has occasionally preached for Pendleton in the past. Pendleton has previously suggested a reading from the Word if no pastor is available on Sunday, but the people preferred to simply close the Church instead. Names mentioned: Dr. (Edward) Cranch, Mr. (Walter Edward) Brickman
