Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton has received W.F.P.’s letter of May 14th. In response he writes, “Frankly I seem to be overwhelmed with duties which can not be avoided here at home. Never has so many things demanded my attention. However I will do my best for the Assembly in the several directions you mention. The time is short and I may be hard put to it. My fear is that under such conditions I will not be able to do my best work. And our best is due to the Assembly.” In addition to having recently moved houses, Pendleton’s daughter, Jean, is sick. Pendleton warns that unless all of the children are in “prime condition,” he will not be able to bring Beatrice with him to the Assembly. Names mentioned: Jean (Lowrie Pendleton), Beatrice (Walton Childs Pendleton)
