Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton, 1903-07-21
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Bishop William F. Pendleton. Pendleton writes that on the previous night, he informed his Council that he had failed to secure the services of either Miss Hanlin or Miss Gilmore for the Pittsburgh school. The Council then considered Miss Lucy Potts, but it was decided that she did not have the necessary skills to govern the school. They discussed Mrs. Hyatt, but it was felt that her care would be too great a burden for the Society to maintain. They also considered Miss Olive, but it was said that she was generally disliked by the children. Pendleton asks W.F.P. if there are any teachers in Bryn Athyn that could be transferred to Pittsburgh. Pendleton has heard from Luelle that Miss Centennia is good at governing children, and he ask W.F.P. for his opinion on this and any other advice that he can offer. Names mentioned: Miss (Clara Hobart) Hanlin, Miss (Evelyn) Gilmore, Miss Lucy Potts, Mrs. (Mary Leather) Hyatt, Miss Olive (Bostock?), Luelle (Pendleton), Miss Centennia (Miss Celia Centennia Bellinger)
