Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Richard Morse, 1936-02-28
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Richard Morse in Sydney, Australia. Pendleton has received Morse’s letter of January 30th with an account of the Hurstville Society’s celebration of Swedenborg’s birthday. Pendleton is distressed at the “amazing discourtesy” of Mr. Henderson on the occasion. He writes, “I can only hope that there may be some explanation which will alleviate the offence. When Mr. Henderson was here we saw nothing which would faintly suggest that he was a Socialist, or that he could possibly be responsible for such a crude demonstration. . . If there is not some explanation forthcoming which will prove satisfactory, I can not but withdraw my confidence in his ability to represent the General Church.” Names mentioned: Mr. (William Cairns) Henderson
